Ahimsa Silk Saree – Making silk sarees without killing silk worms | Ahimsa Silk Sarees cost from Rs.10000 to Rs.20000

Women like varieties of silk sarees.  But they are concerned about the silk worms being killed in the process of producing silk yarn. One need not stop wearing these silk sarees for the above reason. ‘Ahimsa silk sarees’ are available in the market now.

A new variety of silk saree is now available in the market to attract women.  The spatiality of this saree is that it can be worn by women of any religion or class. SKP cloth merchants, Chennai has released these sarees into the market. Generally 600 grams of silk yarn is used to make a silk saree.  People of some religions especially Jains are not interested in using these sarees as silk worms are killed during the process of making these sarees.  The thought of making a saree in which no killing takes place has led to the creation of ‘ahimsa’ sarees.   Even though these are marketed by SKP cloth manufacturers, the actual procedure was found out by a resident of Hyderabad.  Kusuma Rajaiah of Secunderabad has achieved this. He has invented the procedure of making silk yarn after the butterflies leave the cocoon instead of boiling the cocoons when the silk worm is present in the cocoon.  Rajaiah has taken the patent rights for this creation in 2006.  The representatives of the marketers of these silk sarees have said they tied up with Rajaiah to manufacture and market the sarees using the ahimsa silk yarn created by him.  The price of these ahimsa sarees ranges from Rs.10,000 to Rs.20,000.
