Andhra Diwali (Deepavali-దీపావళి) special sweets | Prepare these special sweets which resemble various crackers for this Diwali

Diwali is the time for sweets and crackers.  Prepare these sweet crackers to celebrate the festival of lights.

Taataaku tapakaayalu

Ingredients: Maida – 1 cup, a pinch of salt, a pinch of green colour, ¼ cup rice flour.

Preparation:  Add green colour and salt to rice flour and knead the dough.  After 10 minutes take small balls of dough and roll them like puris.  Cut the puris in rectangular shaped small pieces.  Cut another small portion and keep it on top of rectangular shaped pieces.  Boil the rice flour and make small sticks out of it.  Keep them on the rectangular pieces.  Heat a pan and keep the pieces on it to cook.  Add a half spoon of oil if needed.

Ingredients: Wheat flour – 1 cup, cracked wheat (wheat Ravva), Salt, Ghee – ¼ cup, milk- 2 cups. Cashew, raisin, cardamom – ½ cup; Orange colour – a pinch and a little rice flour.

Preparation: Add a little salt to wheat flour and knead the dough.  Heat a little ghee in a pan and fry cracked wheat.  Boil milk in another container and add orange colour to it.  Add cracked wheat to boiling milk and stir.  When cracked wheat is completely done add sugar; raisin, cashew and cardamom powder should also to be added to this.  Now roll the wheat flour and fold like a triangle.  This looks like a cone.  Fill this cone with cooked cracked wheat.  Boil rice flour and shape like threads.  Keep them on the top of cones.  Steam all the flower pots.

Ingredients: Rice flour – 1 cup, waamu – 1 spoon, Oil and salt – as per requirement.

Preparation: Boil a cup of water adding salt and waamu to it.  Add rice flour to this water. When this mixture is cooled, prepare thin and long pieces.  coil round these pieces like chakraalu.  Fry these chakras in oil.
