Battle of DiuThere was ship war in the Arabian sea on February 3rd in 1509. This battle took place between the Portuguese empire and the combined kings (Sultan Of Gujarat , Republic Of Venice, Republic of Ragusa, Kozhikode King And Egypt Sultan. When Vasco De Gama entered India with cochin as center, the portugese made cochin as main center and did war through Calicut. The portugese had recognized that the north part of Gujarat was valuable than Calicut for the business deals. The Gujarat people used to import the spices from Moluccas and silk from China and used to sell them to Arabs. The portugese king had given 21 ships to Alameda and sent him to East Africa and India to make their empire strong. The sultan of Gujarat had made an agreement with Calicut  king and all the people who were against the portugese had formed a team.

Diu was the main center for the business of spices in india at that time. The portugese people recognized that they should destroy the business relations in India in order to do the business here. The war consists of 1500 soldiers in 18 ships and 400 cochin soldiers. They had the guns and other weapons with them. Even though there are 100 ships on the opposite side, there were 12 huge ships and other were smaller ones. As the Diu people were afraid of the portugese as they don’t have any weapons,  they took the support of Egypt people and thought of using the Diu as shipping center. The portugese had started the war and they won the war with advanced technologies.
