BIITP Eligibility Criteria |Method of Applying for Bioinformatics Industrial Training Program
District Biotechnology Section (DBT) is conducting a training program for the students who did their bioinformatics courses as a part of process of getting job opportunity. Quality training is given to the students under the name of ‘Bioinformatics Industrial Training Program (BIITP)’. This training is very useful to develop necessary industrial skills for the students who completed graduation with bio Informatics subject and post graduation and other courses.
The specialty of BIITP course is, the candidates who are selected for BIITP, can get training directly in the bio informatics or bio technology companies. This course is very useful in order to get job opportunities for the candidates after the training program. The training period in BIITP is six months. Notification for entrance into BIITP for the academic year 2010-2011 is released. A stipend of Rs. 8000 is given for the candidates who are selected for the training. It is the duty of ‘Bio tech Consortium India Limited (BCIL)’ to decide in which company the candidate had to get the training. Some part of the training amount is born by the bio technology section. This program is useful for companies to select talented candidates.
The details of the candidates who are under training through bio informatics industrial training program are kept in the BCIL website. All the details are placed in the website making easy for the companies to recruit the candidates. There is also a facility to have the training in the desired company by the candidate. For this the candidates have to select the company for the training and the agreement paper is to be submitted to the BCIL during the time of interview. Then the candidate will get an opportunity to get training in the company of his choice.
Eligible candidates for BIITP
The candidates who did B.Tech / BE / MSc / M.Tech / Advanced post graduate Diploma (a course which is having at least one year duration ) with bio informatics as a subject are eligible for BIITP. Besides these candidates, even the candidates who are eligible for bio informatics national certification (BINC) can also apply. The candidates must have at least 60% of marks in the eligibility test. The candidates who completed the course in the academic years 2008-09, 2009-10 are eligible to apply. The candidates who are writing the final year or the last semester examinations are also eligible to apply for the course.
- The candidates who are job holders are not eligible to apply for the course.
There is possibility to apply for the course only through online. The cost of the application is Rs.250/-. Other details like DD, the application receipt which is taken through computer, copies of degree and diploma certificates, and the details regarding the DBT sponsorship if there is any are to be submitted along with application form. Based on the details in the application, the candidates are called for interview. The candidates are selected for the training based on the talent that is shown in the interview. There is no written test. The number of the candidates required for a company depends on the requests from the companies for the recruitment. Preference is given for the candidates who are doing the courses under the guidance of the regional bio technology section.
The companies who wish to join in BIITP program have to apply specially. The amount which is spent for conducting the training program is barred by the bio technology section. There is a benefit not only for the candidates through this program but even for the companies which are giving training. During the time of training, the companies can evaluate the candidates. Then as a final process, companies recruit the candidates based on their requirement.
