Biomedical engineering and its details

Basically, biomedical engineering course is an interdisciplinary course. BME focuses on usage of engineering principles on designing medical equipments, analyzing working condition, making of artificial organs, care to be taken in such making and others. Hence, BME students need to have science background. Engineering first year will have common subjects. In the second year, primary knowledge on science subjects will be given. Main subjects are anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, circuits, basic electronics and others. These subjects give the knowledge of construction of human body, working of different organs, types of diseases and others. BME students should necessarily have awareness on human body. Material to be used while designing biomedical equipment, to know if it suits particular body nature, problems that arise when the material doesn’t suit the body and other aspects are taught in the medical related subjects of this course. So, by the end of this course, bio medical engineers will have the knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and other subjects and will be able to assists doctors in those regards.

In Andhra Pradesh, some private colleges along with Osmania University are offering this biomedical engineering course. Admissions are given based on the rank in EAMCET.
