Bohra Muslims special in their culture, traditions and dressing style. Muslims celebrate Ramzan basing on the appearance of Moon. So the date of Ramzan is not known before hand. But Bohra Muslims decide the date of Ramzan depending on the Islamic Calendar. They are going to celebrate Ramzan on 9th of September.
These people are referred as Dawood Bohra Tribe and they came to Hyderabad for business 120 years back. Presently there are around 10,000 families of Bohra Muslims in Hyderabad. They are different from common Muslims in traditions, culture and language. They speak a language which is a mixture of Gujarat and Arabic. Bohra Muslim man wears a white kurta pyjama and a gold colour cap. Women wear a frock like dress in single colour. They do not wear a burkha on the face. Bohra Muslims allow women in to mosques for prayers. A special place is built for women in mosques. Most of these people are educated. They give preference to business than jobs.
Bohra Muslim families are residing at places like Ramgopalpet, Masabtank. Ladkdi-ka-pul, Trimulgherry etc in Hyderabad. Bohra Muslims constructed a mosque which is the biggest mosque in south India in the year 2000 at Trimulgherry RTC Colony. This is a two storey building. Top floor is allotted to women. Qibla on which the Bohra head sits is the special attraction in the mosque. This is built completely in marble. Quotes from Quran are written in gold colour on the walls of the mosque.
