B.S course is offered in IISC for the first time in 2011 | Important dates for the application of B.S course in IISC
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore had introduced bachelor courses. It had introduced four year courses with B.S degree. The first batch is going to be started in 2011-2012. The specialty of IISC is to provide international level bachelor program with good quality. IISC is following quality and standard levels in teaching and designing syllabus. There will be six major subjects in B.S course and they are biology, chemistry, environmental science, materials, mathematics and physics. The duration of the course is eight semesters which is four years.
In B.S interdisciplinary course, basic topics in science, mathematics and engineering are taught in first three semesters. Practicals are given more importance and students should give importance to the major and minor subjects from the fourth semester. There will be four papers from each subject. Research project should be done in the seventh and eighth semesters. Humanities and social sciences subject should be given importance. B.S course is designed in the level of M.Sc and so students who do B.S course in IISC can do PhD after doing this course. The importance for the subjects and fame of IISC will provide many job opportunities after the completion of course.
There are 110 to 120 seats in total and students who are writing KVPY in 2010 and IIT, AIEEE, AIPMT in 2011 can apply for this course. There is more importance given to the candidates in rural areas who completed 10+2/ intermediate. Mathematics, physics and chemistry should be there in intermediate. Selection is done based on KVPY, JEE, AIEEE and AIPMT ranks.
