Career with Bi P C  in India

The shape given to the aims and ambitions of parents and student is Bi P C. The parents who have joined their child in Bi P C will wish to see their child as a doctor. Bi P C will have several number of career options like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BNYS, BUMS along with the veterinary sciences. The modern technologies have brought various other opportunities like Medical lab technology, X-Ray technology, Radiology, Prosthetics, Orthotics, Dialysis and others. The traditional option for the Bi P C students is to go for graduation, B. Sc in the subjects of Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Molecular biology, Genetics, Genetic engineering, Botany, Zoology. After having graduation in the selected branch, one can go for PG and later for PhD and can reach the peak in the teaching field. There are many people who have taken Bi P C as their optional subjects and even got selected for IAS and IPS. Not only MBBS and agricultural courses, there are also many other career options for Bi P C students to excel in their career.

In the past decade there were few courses available for Bi. P. C students like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and agricultural B. Sc. But now, there are many options for the Bi. P. C students in the form of novel degrees, diplomas, certificate courses, PGs and PhDs. These courses can be categorized in the following way:

  • Doctor courses: MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BYMS and BUMS.
  • Veterinary Sciences courses: BVMC, Dairy technology, Live stock management, Poultry Sciences, Sericulture, Pisciculture and Aquaculture.
  • Agriculture, Horticulture and Food courses
  • B. Pharmacy, D. Pharmacy and Pharma D courses
  • Life Sciences: Diploma, degree, PG, PhD courses in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genetic Engineering, Botany, Zoology.
  • Para Medical courses: Diploma, degree and PG courses in Physiotherapy, nursing, occupational therapy, audiology and speech therapy, hospital management, catering and hotel management and optometry.
  • Diploma/ Certificate courses: Medical Lab technology, X-ray technology, Radiology, Prosthetics,  Orthotics, Clinical child development, Dental mechanics, Dental hygiene, Dark room assistant, Operation theater technician and Dialysis technician.

BAMS, BHMS and BNYS:

Candidates who complete post graduation courses in the subjects of naturopathy and yogic science, ayurveda and homeopathy will have demand world wide. Main reason for this demand is that long termed diseases which allopathy is not able to treat, are being treated using homeopathy and ayurveda at lower costs. There are many cases of complete cure of Leukoderma by using homeo, unani medicines and by taking proper care. There is an increasing demand for these types of medicines in America and Canada; and hence doctors of ayurveda and homeo medicine are getting improved employment opportunities. In Andhra Pradesh, doctors of ayurveda and homeo medicines are also given the jobs of PHCs’ health officers   in district hospitals and primary health centers of villages. There are nearly 610 seats in these courses in both government and private colleges. Admissions are provided into these courses based on EAMCET rank.

BUMS: Admission in to this course is given based on the rank in ‘BUMCET’.

Doctor courses:

MBBS is the craziest course among doctor courses. Candidates with Bi P C group in intermediate can get admission into this course through entrance exam. While the number of medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh is 33, the number of MBBS seats is 4400. There are nearly 30, 000 seats in a total of 450 recognized medical colleges across India. The number of seats for which prestigious entrance tests like AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMC, BHU and others is 325. They attract more competition. Along with them, those who have done medicine at CMC, Manipal and PG, DM, DCH courses at Chandigarh will have more demand and are given high paid salaries. According to the statistics of MCI, there are 22,000 medicine students getting their MBBS degree every year, but there are only 13, 000 PG, PG diploma seats available to them.

Dentistry: After MBBS, the next most significant course is dentistry. Duration of the course is four and half years. Internship will be for one year. The number of government and private dental colleges having Dental Council of India recognition is 290. The total number of seats in all of these college is 23, 690. In the same way, there are 21 dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh and the number of seats in them is 1830. There is an increase in the demand for dental courses because of the improvement in awareness on the dental diseases, protection from them, re-organizing the teeth, arrangement of artificial teeth and others. So, there are improved employment opportunities nation wide and also world wide.

Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry:

In Andhra Pradesh, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University and their affiliated colleges offer BVSC, B. Sc Diary Technology, BFS, B. Sc nutrition courses and others. All of them are government colleges only. Admissions are provided into these courses based on the rank in EAMCET. BVSC is five years course and the total number of seats in this course is 200. After completion of course, veterinary doctor job is confirmed. Important courses in PG are MVSC in live stock products and Veterinary physiology.

B. Sc Diary Technology: In Andhra Pradesh, Government College at Kamareddy offers 50 seats in this course. Admissions are provided based on the entrance test conducted by National Diary Research Institute, Karnal located in Haryana. Candidates who complete B. Sc and M. Sc in Diary technology can get jobs with salaries ranging from Rs. 20, 000 to Rs. 50, 000. One can own the jobs of dieticians in corporate hospitals by completing M. Sc Nutrition after B. Sc Nutrition. Monthly salary would be in the range of Rs. 10, 000 to Rs. 50, 000.

B. Sc Fishery Sciences: In Andhra Pradesh, this course is offered in Muthukooru, near Nellore. There is no scarcity for employment in Pisciculture. Candidates who complete M. Sc Fishery Science can get government jobs in fishery department or can join as associate professors in universities.

B. Sc Agriculture, Horticulture, B. Tech Food Sciences, B. Sc Home Sciences:

There are nearly 710 seats in all these courses in Andhra Pradesh. Based on the EAMCET rank, NG Ranga University provides admission into the courses present in it. Candidates who complete M. Sc, PhD in Agriculture can get jobs in private seed development companies, corporate companies and in banks. Salaries would be in the range of Rs. 50, 000 to Rs. 1 lakhs.

Life Sciences:

Bio-Tech: Bi P C candidates, who qualify in the bridge course in mathematics, are eligible for bio tech courses in Andhra Pradesh. Almost all of them are in private colleges only. There are minimum number of seats in Andhra and Osmania University. There is much demand for those who complete M. Sc Bio Tech in JNU of Delhi and Madhurai University. There would be much demand if one does PhD and research and thereby releasing new drugs in to the market.

Bioinformatics: There are certificate, diploma courses, advanced diploma courses, degree, PG courses in bio informatics. After completion of these courses, one can get a job with salary ranging from Rs. 10, 000 to Rs. 50, 000, based on the skill and experience of the candidate.

PG courses in Microbiology, Bio Chemistry: Candidates who complete these courses can run diagnostic centers or can join in high paid jobs in Pharma companies.

Nano-Technology: Nano technology is useful in medicine, electronics, energy generation, robotics and others. Degree and PG courses in nano technology are made available in Enzyme biosciences, Benguluru; AINT, Noida; University of Hyderabad, GVK bio complex, Hyderabad and in BITS Pilani.

As lecturers: Candidates who complete PG, PhD in the subjects of botany, zoology and genetics can join as lecturers, readers, professors in PG colleges. Salary ranges for them would be Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 1, 00, 000.

Civil Services: There are many candidates who have got success in civil services, IFS by taking botany/ zoology/ micro biology as options after degree.
