Obtaining caste certificate in Kerala

 

As per GO(MS) 1039/79/RD dated 06.08.1979 and GO (MS)No. 882/82/RD dated 20.08.1982 Village Officer is the authority to issue caste certificates in Kerala including the cities such as Thiruvananthapuram. Kochin, Munnar etc.

Caste certificates except SC/ST certificates all other caste/community certificates will be issued by the village officer in Kerala.  For the applicants should submit their application in the prescribed format duly filled along with a court fee stamp of Rs. 5. The application has to be submitted to the Village Officer furnishing the details of school registration details.  The following are the documents that are to be submitted along with the application of caste certificate –

  • School registration particulars
  • Caste related documents of parents
  • Ration card
  • Other documents that prove the caste/religion

After submitting the application to the Village Officer for obtaining caste certificate in Kerala, the applicant can get the caste certificate within 3 days from submitting it.

The village officer in Kerala is also authorized for issuing conversion certificates as per circular No. 18421/E2/87/SCSTDD dated 15.12.1987.  If there are some problems in issuing the certificate, the reason for it will be informed to the applicant within ten days.

Concerned village officers have to be contacted for obtaining caste certificates in Kerala on all working days from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.  Converted persons have to submit the concerned gazette notification, ration card and attested copy of State School Leaving Certificate for obtaining caste certificate.  Applications can be downloaded from the official website
