Plastic is one of the inevitable things in our life. Plastic usage is seen in kitchen, dining room and even bathrooms. The list of different kinds of plastic products is very big. With the advancement in this field, it is getting new shape frequently. Coming to the actual point,

Required education and technical support is necessary for the plastic and related industries. The organization which was developed for the research work in this field is Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET). It is established in Chennai in 1968 and has 14 branches across the nation affiliated to it. Along with Chennai campus, there are campuses in Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Bhuvaneswar, Gauhati, Hajipur, Haldia, Jaipur, Imphal, Lucknow, Mysore and Panipat. These are all involved in answering the national and international demands of plastics education and technical support. PhD, PG, UG, PG diploma, Post diploma courses are offered in these centres.

More preference is given to research work in CIPET. It has successfully completed 35 research projects in polymer science, engineering and technology with the financial aid from Government and non-government organizations. It is offering services in design, tooling, plastics processing, testing and quality assurance to the national and international companies. CIPET has got patent for five products and has the shaped thirty two thousand professionals. It has marked its presence in Africa, Europe, Australia and other places. The magazine released by this institute, ‘CIPET Times’ provides all the information of advancements in this field and other information. Also the international Journal of plastic technology by this institute has got international recognization.

Every course offered by CIPET is unique and has its own specialty. Class room teaching, professional and practical training in latest laboratory, workshops are present in the course curriculum. Additional features are research and industrial consultancy. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. Training will be completely in English medium.

CIPET is organizing doctorate programs in polymer sciences, material sciences and plastic engineering with the assistance from Biju Patnayak University of Technology, Utkal University and Anna University. Also, the degree and PG courses are associated with the nearest universities.
