Oriental Bank of Commerce is about to recruit candidates for clerk posts on large scale. It has released notification for the recruitment of 1105 clerk posts for all its branches spread across the nation. Candidates with bachelor degree certificate or intermediate with at least 50% marks can apply for these posts.

Notification of Oriental Bank of Commerce can be considered as ‘add on’ for those who have already applied for competitive exams of other banks. There is no need to worry even if the candidate has not applied for any bank competitive exams till now. Even beginners can also reach their target when their preparation is on right track.

Written test and interview conducted by OBC

OBC is going to conduct clerk recruitment process in two stages. It is written test and interview. Based on the specified cutoff marks in written test, candidates are short listed for interviews.

Objective test of OBC clerk test

Four subjects will be present in written test. They are test of reasoning, test of English, test of clerical aptitude and test of numerical ability. Each section contains 50 questions totaling to 200 questions on the whole. Time given is one hour 35 minutes. All the questions will be in objective method. There is negative marking also.

Descriptive test of OBC Test

This is the test to be taken up in written test stage only. In this division, candidates need to write answers in essay form. Of the four asked topics, candidates need to answer any three of them. Each topic carries 20 minutes of time. Time given is 45 minutes. It is only an eligibility test. Marks scored in this section will not be considered for the preparation of merit list.

Prepare for OBC test in this way

Questions in numerical ability are intended to test the speed, analysis and command on mathematics and other qualities. Questions related to additions, subtractions, charts, pie diagrams and others will be asked. It is easy to answer these questions when command is developed on tenth class standard mathematics.

Questions testing analytical skills and reasoning will be asked. One has to develop command on coding, decoding, ranking, arrangements, blood relations, distance and directions, days’ and dates’, data sufficiency and other related concepts. One has to develop knowledge on analogy, classification, missing numbers for answering non verbal reasoning questions.

Deep observation and ability  to find out mistakes easily, should be present in the candidate to score good marks in the clerical aptitude test. Focus more on spellings, punctuation marks, alphabetical orders and others.

Practice antonyms, synonyms, error recognition, spellings, jumbled words and others in order to excel in English.

One needs to have knowledge of contemporary issues to excel in descriptive test. Also, way of expressing oneself helps a lot in this test. Changes taking place in all fields and experts’ analysis on these topics are to be studied.
