CMC Notification for MBBS admission: Generally, the notification for admission into MBBS in Vellore is released in the month of March. The written test will be held on the last Friday of May. Students present in the short list made from the results of written test, are called for practical test and interview in the month of June.
Allotment of MBBS seats in CMC: Every year 60 students are admitted into MBBS course. Of this 25 seats are allotted to girls. In the same way, 50 seats are for sponsored students and ten seats are open seats. Of the ten open seats, Indian Government will recommend two students. One seat goes for SC or ST student. Remaining are seven seats in the open category. When it comes to the case of sponsored students, Christian churches and institutions sponsored students are given chance. That church or institution should have membership in the Christian Medical College Vellore association.
Eligibility for Admission in CMC
Candidate should have 12 years of education, i.e., 10 + 2 or equivalent education with English, physics, chemistry and biology as compulsory subjects in the last two years. Should have scored at least 60 % marks each in physics, chemistry and biology. 55% marks is the lower limit for BCs and it is 40% for SC/ST. Also should have passed the qualifying exam in the first attempt itself. Candidate should be of more than 17 years of age as of 31st December 2010.
CMC Written test centers: Written test can be taken in the cities of Chennai, Benguluru, Vellore, Hyderabad and Vijayawada. CMC Vellore is renowned as one of the top three Medical colleges in India.
