Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS) is conducted by UPSC every year | Qualifications and Interview details of CMS

Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS) is a way to get a Central Government job when still in the final year of MBBS.  Notification has been issued for Combined Medical Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Combined Medical Service Examination is a test for filling up Government doctor vacancies in various places in India.  MBBS is the qualification to write this exam.  If the candidate is successful in this exam, he can get a Government job, attractive salary and a chance to serve the people.  This is a good opportunity for those who are dedicated and devoted to serving people.

Central service

Combined Medical Service Examination is conducted to recruit doctors in various Central Government departments.  This exam is conducted by UPSC every year.  This year also it has given notification for this exam.

387 doctor posts will be filled in Railway, Ordinance Factories, Central Health Services, Delhi Municipal Corporation and New Delhi municipal council through this notification.

  • Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Railways – Vacancies 250
  • Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Indian Ordinance Factories health services – vacancies 20
  • Junior Scale posts in Central Health Services – Vacancies 100
  • Medical Officers in Delhi Municipal corporation – vacancies 13
  • General duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council – vacancies 4

Those candidates who are selected for Central Health Services Junior scale post can get the job of Medical Officer in Central Government Health scheme and in other central government medical centers.  Those are who are selected for the railway department can join Railway hospitals.  Stipulated period will be considered as probationary period.  But the candidates should not open their private practice and have to sign a written agreement to this effect.  In addition to the basic pay 25% of total basic salary is also paid to these candidates as non practicing allowance.

Qualification

Candidates who have completed MBBS and those who are in final year of MBBS can apply for this CMS examination.  But candidates who are studying final year should produce their certificate at the time of Interview.  Candidates who are in ‘Compulsory Rotating Internship’ in the final year of MBBS can also apply for the exam.  But they will have to complete this internship by the time final list of CMS candidates is prepared to get the appointment.

Interview

Interviews will be held for those candidates who are qualified in the written exam.  General knowledge, personal interests, decision taking skills and leadership qualities of the candidates are tested in the interview for which 100 marks are allotted.
