Details of National Entrance Screening Test NEST 2011 | Application process, written exam pattern and opportunities after writing NEST 2011 exam

National Institute of Science Education and Research in Bhubaneswar, University of Mumbai and Department Of Atomic Energy in Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences in Mumbai are offering five year integrated M.Sc course. There are many facilities in the institutions like library, laboratory, experienced faculty, guest lecturers etc. For the admission into these courses, candidates need to write the National Entrance Screening Test. People who want to do research in science can reach their goal through NEST. Candidates who get admissions into these two colleges can get a scholarship of Rs.5000 every month as Inspire scholarship. Rs.20,000 contingency grant is also given to the students.

Eligibility for NEST
Candidates with minimum marks of 60% in the intermediate are eligible for the test and SC/ ST candidates can have a minimum of 55% marks. Candidates who pass intermediate in 2009, 2010 and final year candidates are also eligible. General candidates should be born on October 1st, 1986 or after that.

Selection process will be done based on the written exam. English is the medium in which exam is conducted. Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam are the examination centers in Andhra Pradesh.

Written exam pattern for NEST
There will be five sections in NEST and first section is common for everyone. The remaining four sections are biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. Candidates need to select any three sections and answer the questions. Candidate’s knowledge of understanding the syllabus and description are tested in this exam. All the questions will be objective type and there will be negative marking for wrong answers. Syllabus for exam is the 11th and 12th standard syllabus for those subjects in CBSE.

Application process for NEST
Applications can be applied online/ offline and the last date for getting the applications is February 21st, 2011. Last date for the submission of the applications is March 7th, 2011. Written exam will be conducted on May 29th, 2011 and for more information, people can visit: www. nestexam.in
