Differences between MABM and Agri MBA of IIM | Admissions, Notification, Job opportunities for MABM | Studies after MABM course

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University has introduced Agri Business Management with MABM earlier itself in order to improve the career opportunities for the students of agriculture and allied studies. They are offering two years masters degree in Agri Business Management for the students of agriculture, veterinary and allied degrees. This course was first introduced in December 2000 in Rajendranagar Agricultural College and then in 2008 in Tirupati Agricultural College which come under Achary N.G. Ranga Agricultural University. Yearly 25 students in School of Agri Business Management, Rajendranagar and 25 students in Tirupati campus are given admission into this course. Along with them 6 or 8 students from ICAR also study here.

Eligibility:

To get admission into masters degree program in Agri Business Management (MABM) of School of Agri Business Management in Rajendranagar Agricultural University under Ranga University, one should have graduation in agriculture, veterinary and allied subjects. Also should pass in the entrance test, group discussion and interviews conducted by the college.

Selection Procedure:

200 marks will be present in the entrance test conducted. Group discussion carries 50 marks and interview carries 50 marks. These add to the 200 giving a total of 300 marks of which one is declared pass when 150 marks are secured.

Fees details:

This is two years course. A fee of Rs. 50, 000 should be paid yearly. SC/ST candidates will have 50% fee concession.

Differences between MABM and Agri MBA of IIM

Both the courses are same. But the faculty will be better in IIM. Mainly there will be more number of professors. MABM course has more guest faculty. Range of IIM will be more. Agri University is confined to the state. So the course offered by IIM will certainly be nice. But there is a scope for better education in agricultural University also if the regular staff are increased and the course is improvised.

Project works:

Project work is mandatory as a part of this course. This is intended for practical experience. Students will be doing project work on Indian Food Corporation, Mark fed and other institutes. As a result they will enhance the chances of understanding the working of these institutes. Third semester totally covers the project work.

Job opportunities for MABM:

All the 200 students or so studied since 2000 year are settled in nice jobs. Jobs are abundant in seeds companies, banking and agri based industries.

Studies after MABM course:

There is an idea to be implemented that MABM students can continue PhD under the guidance of Ranga University.

MABM course at National Level:

Nation wide almost 18 agricultural colleges are offering MABM course.

New amendments:

MABM course is introduced in Rajendranagar campus 10 years back. There is a chance for fee increment from 2010-11 academic year. Also the eligibility is going to be changed from 4 years B. Sc course to 4 year B. Sc course. Graduates in the subjects of biotechnology, microbiology, fisheries, food sciences and technology, bio chemistry are also going to be eligible for this MABM course in the near future.
