All most all the divisions of forest department have released notification for filling up vacancies in forest department of Andhra Pradesh.  Recruitments are being held for Forest Section Officers, Forest Beat Officers and Assistant Beat Officers posts.  As recruitments are being held in the limitations of Forest Department, candidates have to observe the related division falls under which district. Candidates who belong to that district only should apply for the post.  These recruitments are a better opportunity for 10th and Degree passed candidates.

Selection procedure for forest department jobs will have 4 stages.  First stage is the physical measurements process.  According to the notification the minimum physical standards a candidate has to possess are -   Male candidates: height 163cms, chest 84cms. Female candidates: height 150cms, chest 79cms. Candidates who qualify in these standards are selected for second stage.

The second stage in selections for forest department jobs is the written test.  This contains two papers.  First paper is essay writing and questions in second paper will be asked from general knowledge and mathematics.

Tips for essay writing

Essay writing in paper-1 is very crucial.  Most of the students have least awareness about the questions asked.  Time allotted for this paper is2 hours. In the notification released by forest department, it was simply mentioned that paper -1 will have essay writing.  There is a chance that two to three topics will be given and the candidates will be asked to write essays for2 or 3 topics. It is better to concentrate on various topics.

Prepare some essays and start practicing.  Practicing is important for essay writing.  Regionalism, national integration, women welfare, protection of environment, conversion of forests, Indian forests, preservation of river water, naxalism etc are the most likely topics that may be asked in paper-1.  Prepare  essays on various topics like modern technical development, industrialization, eradication of child labour, population and etc.

  • Candidates have to be careful while selecting topic in the exam.  Candidates should select a topic of which they have thorough knowledge and can write in detail.  Take at least five minutes to select a topic.
  • Essay should be written in small paragraphs using small words and it should be informative.
  • Do not write many pages.  The size of the essay should be medium.  When writing about forests, the area of the forests, forest in mountain region, forest resources etc should be mentioned in the essay.
  • Practice is the best way for writing a good essay.  With practice the candidate can know where they are committing mistakes.  Essay should have commonly used words.

Success in paper-2

Paper-2 will contain questions from general knowledge and mathematics.  Duration of the exam is 2 hours.  The paper may contain 60 questions from general knowledge and 40 from Mathematics.  School level questions will be asked in general knowledge on topics like history, polity, general science, geography etc.  Also read about countries-capitals, books-authors, population, ancient constructions, awards, sports, heads of international organizations national wild animal preservation centers, famous personalities-titles, tombs, rivers-projects, places-organizations, new names-old names, national emblems, folk dances, state and central government schemes, nuclear centers, missiles etc.

  • Questions from History, Geography, General Science, Indian polity may be asked.  The level of the questions will be 10th class.  Recent developments in Indian polity and science and technology are also important subjects.  Read the school text books of science.  Allot some time to current affairs daily.

Preparing for mathematics

Candidates should practice basic things like numbers and properties, factors, LCM, multiplication and divisions.  Read text books of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.  Having thorough knowledge of sets, relations, matrix, trigonometry, geometry and business mathematics is an additional advantage for the candidates.

  • Read the definitions and formulas and analyze their applications.
  • After finishing preparation topic wise, practice objective questions and model papers.
  • APRJC and polytechnic entrance exam books can be used for practicing questions.

Depending on the merit the candidates show in the written test, candidates will be selected for a walking test in the ratio of 1:3.  Male candidates will have to walk 25kms in 4 hours.  Female candidates will have to walk 16kms in 4 hours time.  To get success in walking test, candidates will have to practice walking.  Oral interview will be taken of the successful candidates of walking test.  Personalities of the candidates will be analyzed in the oral interview.
