Establishment of Mauryan dynasty | Contribution of Chandragupta Maurya to the Mauryan dynasty
Mauryan dynasty was the powerful dynasty among the dynasties which ruled India. It is the dynasty which extended a lot geographically and it became popular as the biggest dynasties of that age. Pataliputra was the capital of the Mauryan dynasty and the Mauryan dynasty was established in 322 A.D by Chandragupta Maurya. He had defeated the Nanda dynasty and conquered Magadha region. According to one of the stories about Chandragupta Maurya, hi mother, Mura was the maid of Nanda king Mahapadma Nanda. So Chandragupta had named the dynasty with his motherâ€™s name. The Mauryan kings ruled the dynasty from 322 BC to 185 BC. This is the strongest and biggest dynasty.
When Chandragupta was young, Chanakya was known to him. Chanakya was the brahmin guru who was criticized by Nanda kings. Chanakya had contributed to the establishment of Mauryan dynasty by helping Chandragupta Maurya. With the support of Chanakya, Chandragupta defeated the Nanda kings and established Mauryan empire. He had extended the ends of his empire by making use of the inequalities between the local kings during the time of Greeks in Alexander rule. By the time of 316 BC, he had brought almost all the regions in north India under his control. Chandragupta had further extended his empire by defeating Seleucus Nicator in the Alexander rule. He had ruled the empire from 320 BC to 298 BC and he gave the thrown to his son Bindusara.
