Examination pattern of CEED and preparation for the exam

More importance is given to test the creative and innovative skills of the candidate in the CEED entrance test as it is meant for admission into designing course. Visual perception, design aptitude, communication skills, recognizing small problems in designing, analyzing the problems, visual-textual presentation skills, general awareness and various other topics are included in the entrance examination.

Time duration of the CEED exam will be 3 hours and it will be in English. Questions are asked to test the candidates in Visual Perception and Design, Drawing Ability skills, Creativity, Problem identification and Analysis, Design problem solution, Communication design and Logical reasoning.

Visual Perception: The candidates will be asked to finish the incomplete drawing or to imagine and draw a given object in another angle.

Drawing: Presenting various designs and draw alternative designs to the given design are some type of questions asked in the section. Identifying the faults in the given design, analyzing it and suggesting a correct design are some of the questions asked in this section.

Preparation: Success in CEED exam depends more on the creativity and innovative skills of the candidate than on the academics. The candidate should have complete awareness of drawing related topics. The candidates should have the ability to identify faults in a given drawing, analyzing capacity and the creativity to draw alternative designs. Success in CEED is easy for those candidates who have completed various diploma courses in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Production and Architecture engineering. It is beneficial to observe old question papers. Time management can be learnt by practicing the old question papers in a fixed time. CEED previous papers are available in the website of IIT-Mumbai.

Score: Common Entrance Examination for Designing is an entrance exam just like GATE. After the results are announced the candidates have to apply separately to various institutions. Some Institutes are offering Assistantship facility also. Visit websites of various Institutions for more information before applying. IIT –Kanpur, IISC – Bangalore are giving admissions into design courses basing on the GATE score.
