Excise criminals beware of new helpline | Excise Enforcement Department has formed a helpline on number 9966222271 to control Excise crimes
Now residents of Hyderabad can call to the number 9966222271 to complain about the cheap liquor, and non duty paid liquor sold in their areas.Â Higher officials of State Excise Enforcement in Hyderabad will take the necessary action after an enquiry of the complaint lodged. The details about the complainer will be kept unrevealed. In the raid conducted in Warangal recently at 12 spots, a total of 19 jurors have been arrested. Large amounts of cheap liquor and the jaggery which is used in the production of the liquor have been destroyed. The cause for this illegal activity has been found as the inability of the local Excise officers at the respective area, thus these officers have been suspended. Earlier, only land phone was used by Excise Enforcement Department. But now mobile phone and call recording services have been provided to the department.
Functioning of the Helpline
Immediately on calling on the number 9966222271, a voice message telling â€˜Welcome to the Excise Enforcement Department. Please tell your District, Mandal, Village, street name and then your complaintâ€™ can be heard. Thus all the necessary information is to be provided and the complaint should be explained in three minutes time. If the complaint is not completed within three minutes, one more call can be made. The conversation will be recorded in phone initially and then in computer. Then the complaint will be taken to the notice of the director. The task force groups will get into the field as per the severity of the issue. A secret enquiry will be conducted at the spot by officials and the issue will be closed in 5-7 days. If the local excise officials are found to be incapable of controlling these illegal activities, they will be suspended. The higher officials said that awareness should be increased in public about this helpline in order to reduce this kind of illegal activities. Most of the complaints lodged so far are found to be from Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Medak and Warangal.
