Pandyas were the oldest kings in the Indian history and the meaning of the word Pandya is old country. They had rules until 15th century A.D and their capital is Madura. The first king in the Pandyas was Sekharan Pandya and his son was Yadwaja Pandya. His wife was Kanchana mala and his daughter was Thathagai and they called her as Meenakshi. They had ruled srilanka and they used to fight with the Delhi sultans. They never neglected their rule and they encouraged the foreign relations. They were poets and they used to take the award of maran with honor.
