The meaning of gangotpatti means the origin of Ganga Devi or incarnation. This festival is observed on the Vaisakha Sukla Saptami. According to the Hindu mythology, the Jahna maharshi had touched the Ganga Devi and left her from his left ear after he became normal from anger.
