How will be the GATE exam? | GATE Model Question paper analysis

In this test, there will be 65 questions for 100 marks.  All the questions will be in objective and multiple choice format. 15 questions will be about general aptitude. In the question paper intended for engineering graduates, along with general aptitude, questions for  15 marks and 70 marks will be asked related to engineering mathematics and engineering subjects respectively. Negative marking is present in this test. For every wrong answer, 1/3 mark will be deducted. When we analyze the engineering question paper,

  • From question 1 to question 25, (25 questions each for 1 mark)
  • From question 26 to question 55, (30 questions each for 2 marks)
  • From question 56 to question 65 (questions related to general aptitude)

Analyzing the question paper based on question details,

  • From question 48 to question 51 (common data questions)
  • From question 52 to question 53
  • From question 54 to question 55 (All these are linked questions. Answer for the second question will be dependent on the answer of its preceding ones).

Questions will be based on the paper code. Paper code will be based on the eligibility exam studied by the candidate, i.e. mathematics or life sciences, and such. Except for the AI. TF codes, 60 multiple choice model questions and 5 numerical answer questions will be asked. Four answers will be given for the multiple choice questions. Regarding EI, GG, MN, TF, answers are to be answered in online method only. For all the remaining, answers are to be blocked in the Optical Responsive Sheet (ORS). Except for the numerical answers, negative marking will be present for all the questions.
