Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test, GPAT is an exam that is useful for candidates who want to go for higher studies after B.Pharmacy with government scholarship. GPAT score will be considered for getting admission in post graduation in Pharmacy in prestigious institutes in India. M S University of Baroda will conduct GPAT on behalf of AICET.

Some changes are being done every year in the pattern of GPAT. Syllabus of GPAT was changed in the previous year and registration of candidates was done only online. In 2012, GPAT the qualified candidates list will be divided into two categories. Candidates who are qualified and eligible for both M.Pharmacy admission and scholarships will be one category and candidates who are qualified for only M.Pharmacy admission will be another category. Score cards will only be sent to candidates who are qualified in GPAT.

Scholarships through GPAT

The score card of candidates who qualified for both pharmacy post graduation admission and scholarship in GPAT will contain ‘Qualified for scholarship and admission into M.Pharmacy’ written on it. Candidates will be selected for scholarships as per the rules and regulations of AICTE. GPAT score will be given 70 percent weightage. Thirty percent weightage will be given to the academic record of the candidate and his performance in interview.

GPAT score is considered compulsory by few institutes for M.Pharmacy admissions. Candidates who are qualified in non-scholarship category can get admission in these institutes. Few institutes also provide scholarship for the students. GPAT score will be valid for one year.

GPAT exam is conducted in paper and pencil method. GPAT duration will be three hours. There will be a total of 150 questions. Each questions carried 3 marks. All the questions will be in objective multiple choice method. For every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted. Questions will be asked to test the basic awareness, formulae, aptitude, principles and applications of students in pharmacy subject. Syllabus of GPAT will be available in the website.

GPAT qualification and applications procedure

Students who have completed B.Phramacy are who are pursuing final year are eligible to apply for GPAT. Those who are studying in lateral entry method can also apply. Applications have to be sent online only. In Andhra Pradesh, GPAT will be conducted in Hyderabad, Guntur, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Nellore, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Warangal centers.

  • GPAT online application process will begin on 14th January, 2012.
  • Last date for online applications is 20th February, 2012.
  • Last date for receiving application printout, fee challan and other documents is 27th February, 2012.
  • GPAT will be conducted on 6th May, 2012.

GPAT results will be announced on 31st May, 2012.
