Civils Examination Exam Pattern!!!
There are three stages in the Exam that is conducted by the UPSC Civil Services. They are prelims, mains and interview.
Prelims: in this exam there are two papers Optional and General Studies. In the General Science paper there are questions from the subjects like Science, history, mental ability, polity, economy, geography, current affairs and International Events. The question paper is for 150 marks and for the optional paper the students have to select any one subject among all the 24 subjects and that selected paper would be for 300 marks and the question paper model will be in the objective choice model.
Mains: the students who are eligible in the prelims and depending on the vacancies, the students are eligible to apply for the mains exam. These exams are generally conducted in the months of October and November which consists of nine papers and the total marks for the mains is 2600 including all the rounds and patterns. In the mains the students have to choose any two optional subjects and UPSC do not accept some of the optional combinations for the mains. Those optional subjects are…
* Commerce and Accountancy + Management
* Mathematics + Statistics
* Political Science and International Relations + Public Administration
* Anthropology + Statistics
* Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science + Medical Sciences
* Agriculture + animal husbandry and veterinary science
* Any one subject that is related to the Engineering group
After completing these two stages of prelims and Mains the students who are eligible in the Mains are called for the interview and in this interview the students analyzing capacity, communication skills, body language, presentation skills and many more topics are tested and for this the students must have command on all the topics and must analyze those topics for further reference and process.
How to apply for Civils?
o The students who passed degree with any group are eligible to apply for the Civil Services.
o The application are available in all the post offices
o The last date for the submission of the filled in applications is February1, 2010
