How to apply to National Entrance Screening test (NEST) 2010? | NEST 2010 notification, NEST Application forms availability

Naturally students will be interested to study their selected subject in the institutes of their wish. New institutes are sprouting in the condition where the central government is concentrating to give more priority for science researches. These attempts will help in increasing the interest of intermediate students towards science groups. The important among the institutions established are UM-DAE Center for Excellence in Mumbai, National Institute of Science education and research of Bhuvaneswar, Integrated Science Education and research center of Shantiniketan, Visvabharati. National Entrance Screening test (NEST) 2010 is conducted to provide admission into the five year integrated science courses.

UM- DAE Center for Excellence, Mumbai

Atomic Energy Department of Indian government has established this institute in Mumbai. Quality in post graduation education and research are given importance here. This institute is presently in Vidyanagari campus of Mumbai University. UM-DAE is going to establish its own campus in Kalina campus of this university region only. As of now, this institute is offering five year integrated M. Sc course in biological, chemical, mathematical and physical sciences. 30 seats are supposed to be present in these courses. Two semesters will be present in the course. First year syllabus will be same for the students of all streams. Specialization starts from the third semester that is second year. Students have to get indulged in research project in the fifth year. Students should participate in summer projects of famous laboratories.

National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhuvaneswar

This institute is also established by Atomic Energy Department of Indian government. Prime Minister Manmohan singh has announced its establishment in the year 2006. This institute is developing into the best institute with quality and standards in the teaching of basic science and allied subjects. This institute also offers five year integrated M. Sc course in the subjects of biological, chemical, mathematical and physics. 60 seats are present in those subjects. Specialization starts from third semester. There is a scope for studying other disciplines also at the same time. Humanities, technical communication and other subjects are also to be studied. Research project is compulsory. This is presently working in Institute of Physics campus in Bhuvaneswar. Students are awarded Homi bhabha national institute degree.

Integrated Science Education and Research Center, Visva-bharati, Shantiniketan

Visva bharati university of Shantiniketan is a central university. Five year integrated M. Sc course is offered in physical sciences, chemistry and maths in institute of science, Siksha- Bhavana complex. There are 21 seats. This complex has respective subjects departments and modern laboratory facilities.

Inspire Scholarship’ of Rs. 5000 monthly will be provided to the students of first two institutes. Students of Visva bharati university can also apply to this scholarship.

NEST notification

NEST notification that is intended for the admission into five year M.Sc course in three institutes, is announced. Candidates with a minimum of 60% (for SC/ST candidates 55%) marks in Intermediate or equivalent are eligible. This test is conducted on 6th June across 34 cities of the nation. Five sections will be present in the question paper. First section should be attempted by everyone. Biology, chemistry, maths and physics questions will be asked in the sections from 2 to 5. Two sections from the above sections should be selected and answered by the students. Application can be downloaded from the NEST website and send along with the specified fee. Brochure and application can be received through post also. Application fee is Rs. 500 and for SC/ST candidates it is Rs. 250. Fee should be sent only by a DD or postal order in favor of NEST-2010 payable in Mumbai. Applications through post can be received before 16th of February.
