The Sainik school of Korukonda of Vizainagaram district is the one and only Sainik School in our country. There are nearly 20 sainik schools before 1962 and in the same year on Jan 18th the Korukonda Sainik School is established. This school is established in place of the palace that is given as donation in those times. Along with the palace nearly 206 acres of land is also given as donation. This school is located in 11Kms from Vizainagaram district and 60Km away from vizag. The Sainik School is working as the representative for the Central Board of Education of Delhi. The specialty of this school is it prepares the students to attend for the UPSC entrance exam and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (class-12) .

How to get admission in Korukonda Sainik School

There is chance only to join in 6th and 9th standards in the Sainik school. In the next coming year there are nearly 70 seats for 6th and 30 seats for 9th class and the students are given admission based on the score secured in the entrance test. The test for these two classes is conducted on Jan 3rd next year. The students who born in between 2.7.1999-1.7.2000 are eligible to join in the 6th class. The entrance test for the 6th class is conducted from 9am-11am which consists of the subjects like mathematical knowledge test, and language eligibility test. After these tests the Intelligence test is conducted from 12pm onwards for 50min. The total marks are 100.

The students who born in between 2.7.1996-1.7.1997 are eligible to join in 9th class. In the entrance test though the questions are in English the answers can be written in any regional language. Mathematics and science as 1st paper which is for 21/2 hrs and social and English as the 2nd paper for 2hrs duration. The marks are as follows…200 marks for mathematics, 100 for English, 75 for science and social. The entrance exam took place in Vizainagar, Hyderabad, Tirupathi, Guntur, and Vizag. The candidates who are eligible in the entrance test had to pass the medical test. There is reservation for the SC/ST students in this school. In case if there are no SC/ST students those seats are issued for the general category students.

It costs nearly 50 thousand for each student for any class but for the merit students half of the fee is paid by the government and some amount is given as the scholarship by the state government. It costs nearly 20-25 thousand per year and this is only for the merit students and for the ordinary students it is normal of 50 thousand per year.

The notification is released for the students who wish to join in the Sainic school and the filled in applications are to be sent before Dec10th directly in hand or principal or to the sainic school by taking a DD of Rs.375 in favor of State Bank of India payable at Korukonda branch through post or in hand. For SC/ST candidates it is only Rs.275 and by paying Rs.25 the previous questions papers are given.
