IIIT – Important features: More information about triple IT

  • This time, every aspiring student is supposed to apply necessarily. As like earlier year, application forms are not sent to merit students.
  • According to the order of government and approval of governing committee, admissions are for thousands seats in each campus, totaling to three thousand overall.
  • Government will take decision again on the number of seats for the next year.
  • Last date for applying is 4th June. Last date will be extended if necessary, and according to the release of tenth class results.
  • Call letters are sent around 25th June to those who have applied.
  • Counseling for admission is conducted for candidates on 9th and 10th July in the IIIT campuses.
  • Fee for two year intermediate course is Rs. 36 thousand per year, including tuition fee, accommodation and food.
  • Five percent of the seats are filled through NRI and National quota. Those who have joined in the national quota and NRI quota need to pay Rs. one lakh per year and Rs. three lakhs per year respectively.
  • Since there is decrease in number of seats by 3000 this year, 15% of the remaining 3000 seats that comes to 450 seats are categorized for open merit quota.
  • Remaining 85% seats that come to 2,550 are categorized according to the Presidents’ orders as 42% for Andhra region, 36% for Telangana and 22% for Rayalaseema region.
  • In the seats categorized as above, reservations based on caste and other reservations are provided. Last year, each mandal has got 4 seats on an average, but this year the number decreases to 2 seats. Because of reservations, some mandals may not even receive a single seat also.
  • If there are seats not available for a mandal because of reservations, cut down of number of seats will be inevitable because seats arrangement has to be done with district as a unit.
  • This year   40 t o 50 thousand applications are expected.
  • Governing committee has approved introduction of PhD courses at the varsity from this year in order to facilitate connection between teaching and research.
  • There is an idea to introduce PG courses by the next year.
