IISER details and the course details offered in IISER | Admission process into IISER can be done in three ways

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research are established in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, Tiruvananthapuram in Kerala, Mohali in Punjab, Kolkata in West Bengal and Pune in Maharashtra. The maintenance of these institutions is done by Central Human Resources Development Ministry Department. There is no doubt that these institutions are the perfect stage for the people who are having interest in science and research fields. Recently, the notification for the admissions into the institution is released.

B.S and M.S in IISER:

There are course available in the integrated PG process in the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research. The course is for five years and candidates can do Bachelor of Science and Master of Science courses. Presently, there are dual degree courses in biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics. There are PhD programs related to all the departments in science and mathematics. Integrated PhD degree is introduced in the IISER in Kolkata. The main goal of the institution is to prepare the students towards the basics and research fields in natural sciences.

500 seats in IISER and three ways of admissions:

There are 500 seats available in IISER in all the five campuses. There are 100 seats in each campus and admissions are done in three procedures.

  • 125 seats are filled through Kishore Vygyanic Prostahan Yojan.
  • 125 seats are filled based on the national level exam IIT-JEE.
  • 250 members are selected directly by qualifying the exam which is conducted by IISER. According to the rules and regulations of the government, 15% of the seats are given to SCs, 7.5% for STs, 27% of the seats for OBC candidates and 3% of the seats for physically challenged people.

Courses and eligibilities to join in IISER:

Five year BS –MS dual degree in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics:

This is a five year integrated course and the eligibility for the exam is to qualify in the IIT-JEE which will be held in 2011 or to qualify in SX, SA, SB and SP in KVPY exam. Students who show their talent in the various state exams conducted by the State Board of Intermediate are also given admission. Rank is IISER science aptitude test is compulsory. Placement and training in IISER:

Students who had successfully completed the courses are selected for various companies like CSIR laboratories, Department of Atomic Energy Commission, Space Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology and other Multinational companies.

Opportunity to select the integrated PhD program:

Students who gained more marks in the last semester in BS-MS dual degree program are selected for the integrated PhD programs based on their talent.

PhD degree in mathematics and science related fields:

The eligibility for the PhD program is that candidate should have a minimum of 55% marks in MS or 5.5 CPI in BC program. In some special cases, students who completed four year BE/ B.Tech/ BS course are selected based on GATE/JEST/NET/ICMAR/ DBT tests and based on interview.
