IISER offering five year Integrated Masters Programs | Entrance test for admitting students into IISER is introduced from the year 2010

As the students are showing greater interest in Engineering and Technology courses, the development of science education and research in India is hindered. Most importantly Basic sciences courses are being neglected by the students.  Keeping this in mind Indian Institute of Science Education and Research – IISER was established to attract intermediate students to do research.  IISER institutes are the most prestigious organizations in India that offer five years integrated Masters Programs.

IISER was established to increase quality in research.  Central government has established IISER institutes in Pune, Bhopal, Calcutta, Mohali and Thiruvananatapuram. These institutes are providing higher education with international standards in Basic sciences.

IISER institutes are following new methods in conducting five year Integrated Masters Program. Students can do projects in other educational institutions during the summer holidays of first four years.

Entrance Tests of IISER institutes
IISER institutes are autonomous institutes.  Every institute follows own guidelines in designing Masters and PhD courses.  Presently these institutes are admitting students basing on the merit of the students in IIT-JEE/KVPY.  From the year 2010, an entrance test is introduced for selection of students.  Government will provide Inspire scholarships to all the students who are selected.

Five year M.S: All the students will have common syllabus for the first two years in integrated M.S course.  They will study Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Sciences and Humanities and social Sciences during the first two years.
