Apply for inclusion of name in electoral rolls in Mizoram

 

For inclusion of name in electoral rolls in Mizoram, the applicant need to be a citizen of India, must have attained the age of 18 years as on 1st January of the year in which he is applying and he must be a ordinary resident of the constituency in which he want to enrol his name.

Department concerned for registering name in electoral rolls in Aizwal, Lawngtlai, Lunglei in Mizoram is the Electoral Registration Officer – ERO of the concerned constituency. Documents that need to be submitted along with the application for inclusion of name in electoral rolls are age proof certificate, citizenship certificate and if the applicant is transferred from other place, proof of earlier entry in voter’s list.

Registration in electoral rolls in Mizoram can be done in two ways. One way is to enrol the name during door-to-door campaign which is taken up by authorized government once for every ten years. Another way is to register their names during annual revision taken up by the election department on a published date. In this case all the eligible persons shall  in appropriate form from the local Electoral Registration Officer or polling station or from the website. Filled in form shall be submitted to the ERO or the designated officer. On the date of hearing the applicant shall be present physically and if the designated officer finds everything in order, the name of the applicant will be registered in the electoral rolls.

Various forms that shall be used for enrolling names in electoral rolls in Mizoram are

  • Form 6 for inclusion of name
  • Form 7 for objection for inclusion of name or for deletion of name from electoral rolls
  • Form 8 for correction of details
  • Form 8A for transposition of entries
