Inspire scholarships…. Eligibility, Selection process and Application procedure

Good news for meritorious students who want to pursue higher education in natural sciences and basic sciences. Central Ministry for Science and Technology, India has released notification for ‘Inspire Scholarships for 2008, 2009 and 2010’ programs to provide huge scholarships for these students.

What is INSPIRE?

It is known fact that all the students are showing interest towards engineering, medicine and other such courses. It is showing impact on the lowered researches in basic sciences and maths departments. In this context, central government has introduced plan INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) to promote research in basic sciences and natural sciences and to attract the interest of students in this direction. In this scheme, students are given financial aid in three divisions. They are early attraction of talents for science, scholarships for higher education and assured opportunity for research careers. In this scenario, notification has been released for scholarships for higher education.

Courses for which scholarships are offered: B. Sc, B. Sc (honors), M. Sc, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences and Life Sciences of Integrated M. Sc.

Eligibility:

Those who have topped the exams conducted by respective boards or those who have got rank below ten thousand in the entrance tests like AIEEE, IIT-JEE, CBSC or medical board entrance tests and got admission in to respective institutes like IIT, IISER, NISER, DAE- CBS and others in 2008, 2009 and 2010 academic years, are eligible for applying to this scholarship.

Scholarship amount: Yearly Rs. 80,000 will be given as scholarship amount. Of the total amount, Rs.60,000 will be directly given to the student while the remaining Rs. 20,000 will be given to the related research institute at the time of summer time attachment project.

Duration: Scholarship will be approved for five year course in total. Scholarship will be continued uninterruptedly during the prescribed period when the student proves his or her talent.

Application procedure: Application can be downloaded from inspire website. Duly filled in application form should be attached with the photo copies of educational qualification certificates. Along with these, students need to necessarily attach a confirmation letter from the principal or registrar of the university or institute in which they are presently studying.
