JEST is conducted for enrolling students in PhD/Integrated MSc/MTech – PhD | Eligibility, application procedure for JEST

Joint Entrance Screening Test is conducted for enrolling students in PhD/ Integrated MSc, or MTech – PhD programs in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science in 23 reputed institutions throughout India. This is the best opportunity for candidates who are interested in higher studies or researches.   Basing on the JEST score and other factors, almost all the applicants who are selected will receive scholarships from various institutes.

There are many prestigious world famous institutes like IISC – Bangalore, JNCASR, IISER, NISER, Homi Bhabha Institute, Raman Research Institute in India.  Very few science students get the opportunity to enroll in these institutes and do the research.  Many such institutes are enrolling students basing on the score in JEST.  Most of the institutes are offering Integrated M.Sc/MTech – PhD courses.  JEST score is the basis for admitting students in these courses.

For admission in to Theoretical Computer Science, candidates who successfully completed M.Sc/ ME/ M.Tech/MCA are eligible.  Candidates should have an interest in Mathematical topics in Computer Science.

Integrated M.Sc – PhD: This course is available in three institutes.  Those are IISER – Pune; HRI – Allahabad and SNBNCBS – Kolkata.  Any graduation is considered as eligibility for admission into these institutes.

M.Sc (Research) – PhD Integrated Program: This course is available at Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai.  BSc/BE/BTech candidates are eligible to apply.

Integrated MTech – PhD: This course is being offered by Indian Institute of Astrophysics.  M.Sc (Physics/Applied Physics)/BE/BTech candidates are eligible.

Questions asked in JEST will be in the Graduate and Post Graduate level in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science subjects.  Syllabus prescribed in various states and institutes will be considered.
