JIPMER 2010 Admissions Notification | Eligibility for JIPMER
Notification for admission into JIPMER has been released. Application fee is Rs. 850. For SC/ ST candidates, it is Rs. 500. Application can be got by sending a DD for the above mentioned amount taken in favor of Accounts Officer, JIPMER payable at Pondicherry. Entrance test is on 6th June. Filled in applications should be sent before 15th April 2010.

JIPMER entrance is test conducted in 6 test centres including Hyderabad. Special nominates by the Government are also given admission here.

Goals regarding MBBS:

  • Should be able to do research by managing basic and medical science and also serve the community according to the needs.
  • Along with the medical technology, students should be taught practical training also.
  • To assess the students competitive spirit, after some period.
  • Students should reach the standards of Medicine as according to the standards prescribed by Medical Council of India.


Students applying for JIPMER should be an Indian citizen. One should be elder than 17 years of age as on 31st December 2010. A pass in qualifying examination or appearance in March/ April 2010 is mandatory.

One should have passed 10 + 2 with physics, chemistry, biology and English subjects. Should have got 50 % or above marks in all the above subjects except English. For SC/ST students, it is 40%. JIPMER entrance test will be conducted in English medium only. This test will be in the syllabus of CBSE/ state higher board prescribed for intermediate or equivalent exam. Question paper will be in objective type with multiple answers.  Questions will be from English, physics, chemistry, botany and zoology. One correct answer carries one mark.  There is no negative marking.

Eraser, white fluid and others should not be used in examination. There will be questions for 40 marks in every subject. Questions will be in range of EAMCET. Generally, in English, ten questions on synonyms, ten questions on opposite words and two questions on grammar will be asked. Examination will be from 10 AM to 12.30 PM. The time will be sufficient to answer the given questions. Results are announced within 5 days of exam. If two candidates score equal marks, their merit is confirmed by the following way. First, English marks are removed in this process. If found same marks now also, the marks of physics, chemistry and botany are removed in the same order. Even if found same, age is considered for declaration.

Marks scored by every student are placed in the official website of JIPMER www. Jipmer.edu Admission process starts in July second week. Fees will be nominal.  Total fee is Rs. 3050 of which Rs. one thousand is considered as caution deposit.

There are separate hostels for boys and girls in JIPMER.  All the students should compulsorily stay at hostels only. But they can reside with the guardians who are permitted by parents. Mess in the hostel is run by students only. Total expenditure should be equally shared among students.

Three seats are given to physically handicapped students according to horizontal reservation basis. OBC students also have reservation.
