JNTUH Faculty Eligibility Test | Reasons behind creating Faculty Eligibility test, application procedure and other information

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (Hyderabad) which follows standards in teaching, infrastructure and other aspects, has now introduced new method. It has initiated new examination which is not seen in any other university of the nation. It is Faculty Eligibility Test (FET). Let us know more about it.

More than 250 engineering colleges are present under JNTU Hyderabad. Except for one or two colleges, complaints regarding improper and inefficient faculty are seen in many colleges. ‘Faculty Eligibility Test’ is the one which is designed by JNTU to put a full stop to this problem.

Reasons for creation of Faculty Eligibility Test

Main intention behind Faculty Eligibility Test is to select skilled and eligible persons as faculty for engineering, MBA, MCA and pharmacy colleges under JNTU H. Through this test, eligible candidates for lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor level jobs are recognized. This is the best opportunity for those who want to settle in teaching profession. From now onwards, this test will be mandatory for those who want to enter in to the affiliate colleges of JNTU, as faculty. These candidates will be called ‘University Approved Faculty’.

Faculty Eligibility Test will be in 18 subjects

Faculty Eligibility Test – 2010 will be conducted in 18 subjects. Those who have completed M. Tech or M.E or first class passed out candidates of B. Tech or B. E in their respective branches are eligible for applying. Test will be conducted not only in engineering, pharmacy and management branches, but also in English subjects.

Procedure of conducting Faculty Eligibility Test

JNTU H has applied novel method in FET procedure. It has also included general ability, aptitude and analytical skills testing division along with divisions that test in core branch subjects. Test is divided into two division. In the first division, general ability, and aptitude and analytical skills will be asked for 40 marks. In the second division, 80 questions will be asked from subject specialization. In the subject specialization divisions, there is chance of asking questions related to teaching methodology and research methodology. This test will be conducted in objective method and for 120 marks. Duration will be two hours. There is negative marking also. Minimum marks for passing the test is declared as 40%. It is 30% for SC/ ST candidates.

In effect from December 2010

University officials are of opinion to implement the rule of appointing only FET candidates in university affiliated colleges, from December 2010. Generally, colleges start the recruitment of lecturer posts every year in the month of January. Keeping this in view, result of the test will be announced within few days from the date of conducting examination.

Information related to JNTUH FET 2010

Fee: Rs. 350 (Rs. 300  for SC/ ST). This amount has to be paid through DD taken in favor of ‘The Registrar, JNTU Hyderabad’ payable at Hyderabad.

Last date for online application is 30th November 2010. Last date with Rs. 1,000 fine is 4th December 2010. Exam will be conducted on 11th December 2010. Hall tickets can be downloaded from 6th December. Written test will be conducted in Hyderabad. For more details, visit www. jntu.ac.in
