Media is one of the fields which are recovering from recession. There are 4720 newspapers and 400 TV channels and still there is scope to extend the media field. The best example for this is that the media companies are coming forward to invest 500-600 crores in Bihar which is the second largest populated state. Our state is the first example while considering the spreading of the media. There are 36 channels in total and 13 are news channels and other 12 are entertainment channels. There is a competition between each other and providing the jobs for the youngsters.

Media in Every day life:

Media is the field which had increased a lot along with the technology and science fields. All the fields in media from print to electronic web are increasing a lot as the readers are increasing day by day. We can see the effect of media on normal people lives since people are not able to live without reading newspapers, watching news channels and browsing the web. Due to recession, the circulation of many magazines and newspapers are stopped but more than half dozen channels are established in pour state at the same time. It is good to know that there are 8 regional language papers in the top ten papers in the IRS round-2 survey. There is a thought that the usage of papers is reducing as the readers are changing. There is no effect on the papers even though the internet usage is increasing like India. A senior editor declared that there won’t be any decline in the paper industry in our country for the coming 2 to 3 decades.

Even though there are many jobs, many are interested in getting jobs in media field as it is extending day by day. Information is power and so those who select this field as career play an important role in collecting the information. Those who work in this field are satisfied and honorable in this society. They also have the satisfaction of doing social service. As they collect the information from the society and give it to the people and so they grow their knowledge and develop personally.

Journalism Courses:

Journalism is available in under graduate, PG and PG diploma courses. These courses are provided by universities and many news papers are conducting entrance exams. Those who are qualified in this exam are given special training. The training is given in the fields in which the candidate is interested and there are fields like print, TV, radio and new media.

There are reporting and sub editing fields in print media and there are production and reporting fields in TV and radio. There are subfields in these like script writing, content editing and news presentation. For new media, there is a need of journalism skills, web knowledge and basic maintenance knowledge.
