National Entrance Test (NET) and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) conducted by CSIR and UGC jointly | Notification, eligibilities and application procedure

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), UGC (University Grants Commission) jointly conduct the National Eligibility test and the notification for the same has been released.  This test will be conducted on 19th December, 2010.  This test is meant to recruit lecturers in various colleges and Universities throughout India and also for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).  Candidates can apply for both are any one of them.  Merit lists will be prepared separately for both.

Candidates who qualify for Junior Research Fellowship can pursue their PhD with a scholarship.  This exam can be written in Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean, and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. Candidates who finished post-graduation with at least 55% of marks are eligible to write this exam.  Candidates who are in the final year of post-graduation can also write this test.  Maximum age limit for JFR is 28 years and there is no age limit for Lectureship.

The first paper of the test will be conducted from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on 19th December.  This paper is for 200 marks.  Second paper of the test will at from 02:00 pm to 04:30 pm.  This is also for 200 marks with negative marking.  Only the second paper of those candidates who secure pass marks in first paper will be evaluated. This test will be conducted in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and other cities.

Candidates have to appear for both the papers.  Subject wise syllabus is available in the bulletin.  The facility to register online is available.  This can be utilized till 30th August. Candidates who apply online will have to pay the fees in challan form in any branch of Indian Bank.  The hard copy is to be sent to the exam unit. Applications are available in selected branches of Indian Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce.  Filled in applications should be sent to Senior controller of Examinations, Examination unit, HRGD, CSIR complex, Library avenue, Pusa, New Delhi – 110012 before 3rd September, 2010.
