Obtaining driving licence in Chandigarh

 

A valid driving licence under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 is the document that is essential for driving motor vehicles in Chandigarh, as similar to any part of India.  Following types of licences/certificates are provided by the administration of Chandigarh for acquiring a driving licence.

Learner’s Driving Permit

Documents/photographs that should be submitted for acquiring learner’s driving permit are form a with self photo attested by doctor with blood group, Form 2 with self photo, Age proof certificate copy and residence proof certificate such as ration card/ID-card/Telephone bill/electricity bill etc.

Validity of Learner Licence is only six months which can be renewed once by Medical certificate from MBBS doctor within 29 days from the date of expiry.  The documents accepted for obtaining driving licence in Chandigarh are the telephone bill, marriage certificate, residence certificate, rent deed/rent agreement, police report, house allotment letter issued by Chandigarh Administration, certificate of Registration of Firm, Electricity charges bill, water charges bill, and Sr. citizen identity card etc.  Documents that are accepted as proof for date of birth are the PAN card, Driving licence and certificate of age issued by Medical officer of Government Dispensary.

Regular Driving License

Documents that are to be submitted along with the application for regular driving license in Chandigarh are a self photograph, Form 4 and the Learner license passed by the motor vehicle inspector or DSP traffic.  The applicants have to bring all the original documents along with them.

Duplicate driving licence

For applying to a duplicate driving licence in Chandigarh, candidates have to apply with self photograph, LLD form, copy of DDR and blood group certificate.
