The candidates will wait for the SBI notification for three reasons:

  • As SBI being the top ranked bank in India.
  • The number of posts in state bank of India is more.
  • The salaries are also more compared to other banks.

The above reasons are the ones which make the people wait for the SBI notification. The notification is given for the SBI related banks and they will be soon clubbed with the state bank of India. The number of posts is 6113 and the total number of posts is 7168 along with the handicapped and ex-servicemen. There are 1465 seats allotted for Andhra Pradesh which means that more than 20% seats are allotted for Andhra Pradesh.


Difference in the SBI and other banks exam:
The various categories in exams conducted by other banks are four and they are numerical ability, test of reasoning, test of English and clerical aptitude. Each category is for 50 marks and the total paper is for 200 marks. The duration of the exam is 95 minutes and this means that they should spare 28.5 seconds (per each question).


There will be categories like quantitative aptitude, test of reasoning, test of English, general awareness and marketing and computer in the SBI bank exam. Each category will be for 40 marks and total marks in the SBI bank paper are 200. The duration is 150 minutes and each question can be given 45 seconds time. This time duration is more than the time limit compared to other bank. There won’t be descriptive test in the SBI bank exam.


How to prepare for SBI exam?
The questions in the SBI bank exam are of basic level and they are in the tenth standard level. Questions in the quantitative aptitude test will be based on simplification, arithmetic and data interpretations. Candidates should concentrate on the simplifications as there will be 20 questions on simplifications out of 40 questions. The remaining 20 questions will be based on number series, data sufficiency and the topics in arithmetic. There is a possibility of asking 5 questions on the data interpretation. The knowledge on the ratios and proportions, percentages and averages will help in solving the arithmetic questions easily. The topics like averages, percentages, profit and loss and number system are asked more. Candidates should concentrate on these topics more and they should study 6th to 10th classes’ mathematics books.


The questions in the reasoning will also be simple and the students who prepare for the bank exam should concentrate on coding-decoding, blood relations, letter sequence, seating arrangement, ranking and directions. There will be 5 to 10 questions from the non – verbal reasoning which have to be practiced more.




There will be ten questions from the reading comprehension in general English. The remaining questions will be from vocabulary, correction of sentences, jumbled sentences, sentence completion, spotting errors and cloze test etc. The candidate should try to learn ten words daily and they should have grip on grammar. Candidates can increase their reading speed if they read the popular English newspapers and other English books. They should refer the current affairs for the last six months and they should concentrate on the economy with special interest.


The questions in the marketing subject are asked from the basic topics like marketing, sales, different marketing types, marketing mix, product life cycle and advertisement. There will be more questions from these topics. The candidates should have the knowledge on the basics on the computer like MS word, MS excel and PowerPoint.


The candidates should practice more, after learning the concept and their practice should be in the level that the questions in the arithmetic part would be answered in 30 seconds. There is three months of time for the SBI exam and there is enough time for the candidates to practice for the exam. There is lot of time for the candidates to prepare for the exam and this is the right time to grab the bank job.
