Airtel has launched ‘Airtel Money’ services in Andhra Pradesh officially on 24.2.2012. Airtel mobile users can pay for power bills, cinema tickets etc from their mobile phones in place of cash, debit or credit cards. They can also transfer their cash to other prepaid wallet Airtel mobile or to any bank account from anywhere at any time in India. Airtel Andhra Pradesh circle CEO has informed to media that presently Airtel money transactions can be carried out in 700 stores in Andhra Pradesh. Airtel Money services will be available for 1.8 core Airtel customers.

Opening the Airtel Money account

To open the Airtel Money account, customers has to dial *400# or can register their name in www. airtelmoney.in to open prepaid wallet. The application has to be filled and at the nearby Airtel Money retailer and photos have to be submitted to him. The account will be opened based on the customer mobile number and a PIN number will be allotted to them. Cash can be deposited in this account through net banking. To make payments, dial *400#. Options will appear on the cell phone screen. After the completion of the transaction, a message will be sent to the mobile phone of the customer.

Customers can open Express or Power accounts to avail Airtel Money services. Express account can be opened in 2- minutes and Power account can be opened in 7 days. Customers can spend up to RS. 10,000 through the express account. Utility bill payments and mobile charges can only be done through this account. With the Power account, it is possible to spend up to Rs. 50,000 for online purchases and money transfer etc. Express account will be opened for free while Rs. 50 is charged for Power account.

Charges for Airtel Money services

Airtel Money service will not charge anything for bill payment or purchase of things. To transfer money from one prepaid account to another Rs. 5 will be charged for every Rs. 500 and Rs. 10 for above Rs. 500. Through the Power account, it is possible to transfer money to bank account up to a maximum limit of Rs. 10,000 per day. The store owners have to pay commission to Airtel for the payments they receive from Airtel customers.
