Some employees may not get increments, appraisals and promotions even though working very hard for the organization and completing the scheduled tasks within time while their colleagues getting appraisals without that much of dedication. This can happen in case of being unable to express their thoughts before boss.

Things to be followed to get good appraisals and promotions –

Most of the companies prepare reports on the performance of the employees for every six months or one year. Based on these reports only the promotions and appraisals will be given. Hence self analysis of skills and work should be done periodically. The performance should be improved from time to time. At the time of minimizing the work hours working style, attitude, skills, managerial abilities, and the performance in the specified tasks will be considered. These factors affects the decision of the salary of respective employee.

The financial status of the company should also be analyzed. Some companies may not give appraisals due to some specific reasons. But no quick decisions should be taken. It should be remembered that the future will be good in case of attaining higher positions in a company by working in it steadily.

There should be no hesitation to talk about salary. The expected amount should be brought to the notice of the boss even though not received any feasible reply from him.

Things not to be followed to get good appraisals and promotions –

  • Salary hikes should not be requested as per your requirement. Because hikes will only given based on the skills and qualification but not basing on need.
  • It is not better to demand for salary in the current organization by showing offer letters of higher salary from other organizations. No such activities will be entertained by any organization. It may affect the future of the employee only.
  • No one should discuss about appraisals with boss without taking necessary appointment. No emotions should be expressed while discussing about appraisals.
