Qualifications for Optometry, higher Studies after Optometry
The candidates who wish to Optometry BSc must have 50% of marks in MPC/BiPc groups. But most of the colleges accept only the candidates who had 60 or 70% of marks to appear for the entrance exam. The merit students who cleared the entrance exam are called for the interview. As the applications are approved by the Birla Institute of Technology in Pilani for this course, the candidates had to send the applications directly to that institute only. But the admissions in the MCAHS School are given based on the marks secured in the board.

After completing the four year course the students are issued the BSc Optometry degree. Those who are interested can do PG, M.Phil, and PhD in this course as their higher studies. In some colleges after three years, they had to one year internship in the eye care clinic.

The Bausch and Lamb College had divided the course where three years is the education program and the last one year the candidates had to do the internship in the LV Prasad Eye Institute. It is very useful for the students in their future when joining the job. There are many opportunities in this career. The people who do not wish to work under any institute can start their own practice. The Lawrance and Mayo company is offering 12 to 15 thousand for the freshers and around 120 members are been recruited in their 43 branches all over the India.  Lawrance and Mayo company is also conducting the special Camps and workshops in the rural areas to create an awareness and methods to prevent the blindness.  This company is looking for more number of trained Optometrists to work in their company.  There are even multinational companies which are offering 50 thousand per month for the trained candidates.  But salary is not the basic thing to consider but jobs satisfaction is very important than that.  The specialists say that giving the eye sight to the blind people in a correct time gives more satisfaction than anything in the world where even money did not gives such satisfaction.
