Reasons for Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s resignation as a Congress MP |Why Jagan resigned as MP

Cuddapah MP MR. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced his resignation as a Congress MP stating the following as the reasons for his resignation.  He sent a letter to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi in which he expressed his hurt over the way he and his family was treated after his father’s death.

The following are the important issues touched by him in his letter –

  • Nearly 150 MLAs proposed his name as a Chief Minister on the day his father faced an unexpected death.  Jagan kept away respecting the high command’s orders.
  • Jagan himself has proposed the name of K.Rosaiah for the chief minister’s post as per the desire of Congress High command.
  • He also cooperated for the smooth election of Mr.Kiran Kumar Reddy as the successor of MR. K. Rosaiah.
  • ‘Odarpu Yatra’, he says is his personal program and it is his responsibility to meet and console people who lost their dear ones due to his father’s sudden demise.  As there was huge response from the supporters of Mr. Y. S. Raja Sekhar Reddy, his rivals could not digest the success of the Yatra.
  • Jagan’s mother wrote a letter to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi seeking her appointment to explain about ‘Odarpu Yatra’.  They were allowed to meet Mrs. Sonia Gandhi only after a month. While others like Mr. Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy and Chiranjeevi could get an appointment with in one day.
  • Jagan said that he understood that there is conspiracy at the high command level to wipe the image of Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy from the hearts of the people.
  • He said that there is no point in continuing in this party after it is clear that it is not possible to help those people who are worshipping his father as a God.  And he could no more bear the humiliations and conspiracies against him and his late father.

Though all the above has been mentioned by Jagan as reasons for his resignation, it is evident that he is hurt by the efforts being made to vertically split his family by luring his uncle Mr. Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy with an offer of berth in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet.
