Shobha De is more popular as an author who writes about social problem. She was born in a traditional family in Maharashtra on 7^th January, 1948.  She studied psychology and along with it she also studied the psychology of readers and women.

Shobha De has done modeling at the beginning.  She could achieve special recognization in the field of modeling.  From 1970 she worked as a journalist in Stardust, The Week, Celebrity and Times of India – Sunday. Her creativity and expression of ideas had made her a good writer.  Shobha De wanted gender equality.  Her essays exposed various mentalities and meanness of the society.

Shobha De has extended her creativity to Designing field and started Designed dresses.  She experimented with clothes and designed them to reflect the traditions and customs of Japan and Egypt. Her brand ‘Cocktail’ which is available in showrooms like ‘Samsar’ is hot fashions in wealthy groups of Mumbai.

Shobha De’s husband is a business man.  She lives with her daughters Arundhati, Avantika, Anandita and son Aditya.  She is presently writing essays for magazines as a freelance writer.
