Tatkal chance for normal passport applications | Conversion from normal application to Tatkal scheme, is possible now

Only online registration method was available to apply for passports under Tatkal scheme.  There were only three hundred slots available per day.  But the system has been changed now.  Applicants who have applied for a passport under normal passport scheme can convert it to Tatkaal scheme. If one cannot get a slot to apply for passport under Tatkal scheme, go to any e-seva center and apply under normal passport scheme.  It will reach the Secunderabad passport office after 3 days.  The applicant can go to the passport office after 5 days and can convert his passport after paying the remaining amount through conversion method.  The passport may be got within 15 days.  But all the certificates needed for verification has to be submitted.

Now, one can apply for passport in any e-seva centre, anywhere.  Earlier applicants who were applying from the districts were supposed to apply in district e-seva centers or SP offices.  And the residents of Hyderabad used to apply in the e-seva centers of the city.  The rule is relaxed now.  Persons belonging to any district can apply in any e-seva center in the city.  And the old passports can now be renewed at the Passport Service Center which is located opposite i-max theatre, Hyderabad. Earlier renewals were possible only at the Secunderabad Passport Office causing great inconvenience to the applicants.
