Tips to get good marks in science and technology in Group –I exam | Preparation should be divided into three sections to gain more marks in science and technology in Group-I exam

The fourth paper in Group-1 mains is science and technology. This paper is very important and more marks can be scored in this paper even though the syllabus is more. By getting some idea about the paper, arts and science students can easily prepare.

There will be three sections in paper-4 and the first section is related to Role of science and technology in the development of India. The second section is related to general knowledge and development in life sciences. The third section is related to development and environment. There are five units in each section and there are 15 units in whole syllabus. 2 questions will be asked from every unit and one question can be left for choice. This means that only one question can be answered. 15 questions should be answered in a total of 30 questions and each question carries 10 marks. So the total marks are 150. There is a chance of asking the questions for 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 marks. In this case, candidates should divide their preparation into three categories which are

  • Reading the syllabus carefully and preparing the notes.
  • Practicing the answers
  • Revision

First Level of preparation:

Candidate should first observe the syllabus carefully and know which topics are there in syllabus. Topics which are according to unit wise should be studied with the help of various books and materials. Notes should be prepared on these topics. Every topic should be studied and it should be understood while reading.

  • Main topics can be given more importance.
  • Topics and answers should not be mugged up.
  • Reading few topics and leaving few topics is not correct.
  • Answers to the questions should be correct and exact. All the known information should not be written in the answer.
  • Candidate should concentrate so that any type of question for any number of marks should be answered.

Second stage of preparation:

Candidates should read the notes carefully and they should understand it. Important points should be remembered and summary of the main topics should be written. After that they should practice writing every answer without seeing. Candidates won’t show the interest towards writing but candidates would succeed if they practice more writing skills in few topics. Problems can be solved even if it is somewhat problematic in the beginning.

  • Preparation should be done in such a way that questions are answered in right time.
  • Each question should be answered in 11, 12 minutes and candidates should practice such that they would write the answers in the given time.
  • 15 questions should be answered in 180 minutes and practice tests should be solved by practicing with managing the time.
  • By answering the various models and types of questions, candidate will be able to answer the questions easily.

Third stage of preparation:

Revision of every topic should be done and so that important points and words will be remembered. The notes related to the present topics should be written and the science and technology issues should be update from the news papers and magazines. More writing practice and revision should be done.
