Booking train tickets is very easy now as there is no need to go to railway station counters or sit before the computer for online booking. Train tickets can be bought through the mobile phones in the hand. The reservation SMS that will be received after booking the ticket is enough for travelling in trains. IRCTC launched this new facility for the train passengers. Mobile booking for train tickets facility which was started as a pilot project is presently being utilized by more than one thousand passengers daily.

To book train tickets through mobile phone, internet facility should be present in the phone. Train passengers have to register their names for the first transaction. Later they can use the ID, Password to take the ticket. The software that is required to for mobile booking of train tickets should be downloaded first. This software is being provided by NGPAY, PAYMATE and ATOM.

After booking the train ticket through cell phone, the passenger will receive an SMS to his mobile phone regarding the reservations. The PNR number, journey date, Train number, class etc details will be present in the SMS. This message has to be shown to the TTE of the train. There is no need to take printout the mobile ticket as is done when booking online tickets.
