Clinical research and health administration are the courses that have increasing prominence in India. Many multinational companies and foreign institutes are entering these fields by collaborating with pharmaceutical and production companies. Candidates with biology background can have more number of employment opportunities in these companies. Health administration can be said as different career in the health service field. There is an estimation of necessity of seven lakhs numbers of health care management experts in the next two years.

For non-medical candidates……….

It is a common opinion that only those who have done medicine and related courses will have employment opportunities in hospitals. But health administration provides employment opportunity to non-medical candidates also. What ever may be the subject in graduation, one can enter Master of Health Administration course.

Not only in private hospitals, candidates who have done PG in health administration can get employment opportunities in IT field, academics, insurance companies, NGOs,, medical  tourism companies, patient care, teaching, li4fe style clinics and others.

Courses and eligibilities

Only few institutes are offering health administration course in India. ICRI, Medical University of South Carolina are jointly offering Master of Health Administration (MHA) course. It is a two year durational course. Candidates who have done MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, medical micro biologists, bio chemists, physiotherapists, nursing, biotechnology and other graduation students can join this course. ICRI has made dealings with famous hospitals across the nation for conducting this course. Candidates who have joined MHA course can have the opportunity to do internship in Fortis, Wockhardt, Raheja, Hinduja, Escorts hospitals.

Expanding clinical research

Many foreign companies are establishing clinical research institutes in India because of the reason that pharmaceutical industry is developing rapidly in the nation and the expenses for conducting research works will be less when compared to that of other countries. Because of this reason, there is an increase in demand for these clinical research courses. In India, ICRI is the institute that is famous for clinical research courses. This institute offers Master of Science in Clinical Research with collaboration of Medical University of South Carolina. This course can be done by doctors, paramedical experts, pharmacists, life sciences graduates and management professionals.

Those who have done clinical research courses will have employment opportunities of clinical research assistants, clinical research associates. The responsibilities and work nature of clinical research assistant will be almost same like medical representative jobs. To join as associates, one needs to have experience in clinical research.  These candidates can also have jobs of clinical research coordinator, business development manager, project manager, medical writer and others.

Low awareness

With the arrival of corporate field in India, the health care field has changed. It has become necessary to maintain health care institutes and hospitals with professionalism. There are attractive jobs available in this field for those who have necessary skills along with health administration degree. Nearly three lakhs health administration experts might be needed in India in the next one year. Many students are not having adequate awareness on this field and hence are loosing opportunities.

High paid jobs

India is going to become clinical research hub because of arrival of many multi national companies. Jobs in this field are offering high amount of salaries. Minimum salary in the field will be around two lakhs rupees and with one year experience, one can get salary of six lakhs rupees. Doctors who have done this course can have high level opportunities like principal investigator, co-investigator, drug developer, regulatory affairs management, clinical research physician and others. Life science graduates can have the job opportunities like medical writers, CRIs, CRMs, drug development associates and others.
