The research and observations in this field are mostly done by Indian people. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis was born on June 29th in 1893. He had taken the degree in physical science in 1912 and had learnt the mathematics and physical science in the Cambridge and Kings universities. He had done his service as lecturer for 30 years and retired as a principal after that. He became famous as the statistics lecturer when he was the lecturer as the presidency college and he got the royal society fellowship which is in London as a result of his contribution towards the statistics subject in 1945. He was selected as the member of statistical commission in 1946 and he had become the central statistical minister advisory in 1949. He had played an important role in the establishing the Indian statistical society and he had started to publish the statistical paper in 1933. He had led to the establishment of national sample survey in 1950 as a result of his survey on this in 1940. He had given the importance of the statistical methods in the Indian science congress meeting in 1950 and Jawaharlal Nehru who was the prime minister at that time included the Mahalanobis theory in the national schedules. He  had rendered his services as the statistical person from 1950 and he had been the member of statistical society from 1955 to 1967. His service in the preparation of the 5 year statistical plan was excellent and he had strongly involved in this plan.
