After 400 years of British rule and after many struggles, India had got independence. But due to the divide and rule policy of the British people, India and Pakistan were divided in to two separate countries. The two countries had become independent countries at a time on August 15th, 1947. The celebrations for the new independent country Pakistan took place in its capital Karachi on August 14th, 1947. The celebrations in India took place on August 15th. The reason was that the last governor General lord Mount Baton should attend both the celebrations and so they celebrated in this manner and the other reason is that they should not feel that Pakistan had been separated from India.

There is a difference between the new time period of Pakistan and India. The time in Pakistan was 30 minutes late than the Indian time and the time in Bangladesh was 30 minutes faster than the time in India. The independence was declared at mid night of August 14th. And so the time in Pakistan was 11:30 and the time in India was 12:00. So the people think that the two countries got independence on different days but they had actually made this to celebrate the independence on two days.
